The "Nocturnal Wanderers" - the Keyworth Youth Club Shadow Team - managed to gain triple honours at the event by being placed:
First in the Youth Support Service category
Third of the Countywide teams
Fourth overall in the country
The team - Fergus Cuthill, Jenny Warhurst, Tom Eaves, Ailbhe Rees and Jack Topping - survived cold, damp and darkness to participate in the various 'incidents' of the event.
Shadow is now in its 37th year and is an annual night navigation exercise in Sherwood Forest for young people in teams of five. All young people participating are trained in navigation and first aid beforehand. They have seven hours to navigate around a pre-determined course, from point ot point, in order to participate in various incidents en route. Points are achieved for accomplishment as well as other aspects such as teamwork and litter picking.
There is no limit to the number of teams that can participate, so if you are interested get in touch with your local youth work team as soon as possible!
