Keyworth Village Plan : Environment

Village Plan - Environment

The Keyworth Village Plan aims to improve the appearance of Keyworth, and encourage villagers to be environmentally friendly.

Environment

The Keyworth Village Plan addresses both the immediate and the wider environment.

There are two environmental aims within the Village Plan:

  • Enable villagers to be environmentally friendly;
  • Improve the appearance of the village.

Go Green

Ideas for making Keyworth more environmentally friendly:

  • Recycling - batteries, tetra-paks, glass, kerbside collections;
  • Conservation area - manage change using a Village Design Statement;
  • Carbon footprint - encourage green transport, local shopping, local tradesmen;
  • Energy - promote energy efficiency;
  • Everything - environmental issues impact upon all themes.

We need to ensure environmental aims are incorporated into all changes.

Appearance

Ideas for making Keyworth look better:

  • Trees - planting trees is also environmentally friendly;
  • Clutter & litter - ensure appropriate facilities are available;
  • Gardens - encourage everyone to maintain their gardens;
  • Buildings - encourage everyone to keep existing buildings in good order;
  • Christmas decorations - build upon the new Keyworth Christmas lights;
  • Floral displays - perhaps introduce a competition;
  • Rural character - promote a Village Design Statement;
  • Attractive housing - promote a Village Design Statement;
  • Empty properties - put vacant properties to some use.

We need to create a group to promote the appearance of the village.
