Vale of Belvoir Probus Club

We are a very friendly and supportive group of retired and semi retired professional and businessmen who meet at the Vale of Belvoir Inn and Hotel, Grantham Road, Whatton twice a month on Wednesdays for friendship, chat, a speaker and an optional lunch. There is also a full social programme for members, family and friends.  For further information please contact David French on 01949 875466 or e-mail dandjfrench@btinternet.com

Please note the new non emergency number for Notts Police   - 101

Keyworth has suffered from metal theft recently and one of the problems is that metal is so easy to dispose of.   Historically the scrap metal trade has been a cash in hand industry; which creates difficulties as there is no audit trail, making identification of individuals who may be trading stolen metal or who may be committing tax or benefits fraud, a difficult proposition.   An amendment to the Scrap Metal Merchants Act 1964 to prohibit cash transactions would make payment by cheque or directly into a bank account mandatory and would be a significant component in reducing metal theft. The e-petition can be found at:
http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/406. 100,000 signatures are needed for the matter to be debated in Parliament.

SCOUT AND GUIDE CHRISTMAS POST   - RAISING MONEY FOR THE NEW MAGGIE’S CENTRE AT THE CITY HOSPITAL.

From 1st December there will be Post boxes and stamps (20p) for sale at Village Hair, Bob Green, Butcher, Johnson’s Butchers, the Library and Sainsbury’s. Stamped cards can also be posted at the Scout Hut. Stamps can also be bought from Richard Lumb (914 7906) or Scouters and Guiders.   Deliveries will be made during the time the post is on, not necessarily daily, and mainly on the two weekends, 10/11 and 17/18 December.

Please note, we only deliver to Keyworth and Stanton - every year we get a few for Melton etc. which reduces the amount raised for the charity!

The last collection will be on Friday 16 December at 4pm.

Please support Scouting and Guiding in Keyworth as they raise money for this charity which supports all those affected by cancer.
