GEORGE HARRIS wishes to express his sincere appreciation for all of the wonderful messages, cards and gifts extended to him on the occasion of his 100th Birthday.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JUDI APIAFI who was awarded a MBE in the New Year’s Honours list.   The award was for her work with the probation service where she was involved in Positive Action through Learning Support.   This scheme provided offenders with the opportunity to catch up with their education and gain skills to enable them to find work.   Sadly, budget cuts have closed the scheme.

THANK YOU I would like to say a big thank you to the motorists who stopped to assist a young cyclist who became ill on the Costock Road on 2 January - especially the young horsewoman with all the blankets - they waited until the ambulance arrived and the young man recovered without having to go to hospital.  Also to the man, who I believe was a painter/decorator, who literally picked my daughter up out of the road in the Square when she fell over on her way to school on 9 January and the assistance given to her by the staff at the Numark Pharmacy who attended to her injuries.  She did attend A&E but thankfully x-rays showed she had not broken anything.  Sincere thanks to everyone involved.

To everyone who is collecting foil for Guide Dogs please remember I CANNOT RECYCLE FOIL FOR TABLETS. Also, please do not empty bags of foil into the bin, I need the foil in separate bags.   Thanks for everyone's support, I will be carrying on collecting.     Michael,   28 Nottingham Road, Keyworth, NG12 5FD

SANTA SAYS A BIG THANK YOU  Santa Claus and his helpers from the Rotary Club of Keyworth and Ruddington would like to thank everyone who contributed towards the magnificent sum of £2432, which was collected on the three evenings in December when Santa and his float visited Keyworth. This money will be distributed to a wide variety of local charities and good causes.

He would also like to thank Sandicliffe Motors for their generosity in once again loaning and decorating the towing vehicle. A very special thanks to those individuals who helped to collect in Keyworth, in addition to Rotary Club members, which enabled him to complete his visit so successfully. Also to those who provided refreshments en route!

Best wishes to everyone for 2012 and once again many thanks for your generous support.

CROSSWORD SETTER REQUIRED to puzzle the residents of Keyworth!   Now that Askerist has retired, we need someone to alternate with Marmoset.   Offers to the Editor please.
