What is a Parish Plan?
A parish plan is a holistic vision and programme of action based on consultation, research and survey followed by community action planning.
In short: Parish Plans are a form of Community Led Plan.
Parish Plans determine the future of communities and how they can change for the better. They are documents that set out a vision for the future of a parish and outline how that can be achieved in an Action Plan.
The Parish Plan process may include:
- A Village Appraisal – a household questionnaire to assess needs and aspirations of local people
- Participatory Appraisals – hands-on interactive workshops
- Business Surveys
- Creation of an Action Plan
Developed in consultation between parishioners and support agencies, the plans look to the next 10-15 years.
What's the point of doing one?
Here are some of the benefits:
- It draws the community together.
- It gives the parish a sense of focus and direction.
- It helps attract cash from major funding bodies.
